TIG Wire for Stabilised Austenitic Stainless Steels

Weld Star ER 347Si TIG wire is an austenitic stainless steel filler metal featuring a significant niobium content that prevents intergranular chromium carbide precipitation, enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion. The increased silicon content improves weld pool fluidity, resulting in a smooth, attractive weld deposit.

It is ideal for welding and overlay applications on chromium-nickel stainless steels of similar composition, especially those stabilised by niobium or titanium, such as types 321 and 347.

Commonly used in chemical industry applications operating at elevated temperatures, especially equipment exposed intermittently between 400°C and 800°C. Typical uses include firewalls, pressure vessels, food processing, dairy, oil, and textile industries.

Key Features

  • Niobium addition stabilises against intergranular chromium carbide precipitation
  • Increased silicon content for improved weld fluidity and smooth appearance
  • Suitable for welding/stabilised overlay of 300 series stainless steels (e.g., 321, 347)
  • Excellent performance at elevated temperatures (400°C - 800°C)
  • Resists intergranular corrosion
