TIG Wire for Austenitic Stainless Steels

Weld Star ER 316L TIG wire is an austenitic stainless steel filler metal with low carbon content to reduce the risk of intergranular carbide precipitation. This increases resistance to intergranular corrosion without requiring stabilising elements such as niobium or titanium.

The presence of molybdenum enhances creep resistance in halide atmospheres, making it ideal for joining and surfacing stainless steels of similar CrNi and CrNiMo compositions, including low-carbon molybdenum-bearing austenitic alloys.

Commonly used in the food processing, dairy, and chemical industries where corrosion resistance and weld integrity are critical.
